Ice Skating Programs

Figure Skating

We are pleased to offer weekday and weekend figure skating sessions for more advanced skaters to practice freestyle, moves in the field and ice dance. Figure skating is available on a subscription or walk-on basis. Skaters may make arrangements for a private lesson with one of our on staff coaches. Approved coaches are welcome.

Synchronized Skating
(Connecticut Rinkettes)

The Rinks at Shelton is proud to host the Connecticut Rinkettes, a synchronized skating team which offers athletes the chance to compete with a team and learn the value of teamwork and camaraderie in a fun, nurturing environment. Teams of 8 to 20 skaters perform challenging formations and step sequences together designed for the skaters’ level.

Speed Skating

The Connecticut Speedskating Club is pleased to call at The Rinks their home. For skaters of all ages and skill levels, skaters are divided by age and skill levels, enabling beginners to feel less intimidated and more skilled skaters to be challenged. The speed skating program features:

  • First trial session is FREE
  • Instruction by Connecticut Speedskating Association coaching staff included in their fee
  • Weekly sessions focus on proper skating technique, power and speed.  Speedskating is also an excellent cross-training activity for many sports, including figure and hockey skating, running, cycling, etc.
